Heléne Hallnäs releases “Paley” – a warm tribute to her father

“Paley” is Heléne Hallnäs’ heartfelt tribute to her father Eyvind – a meditative, ambient journey filled with childhood memories, love, and calm. Written at Evas Paley in Gothenburg and created in collaboration with KMR Studios.

A meditative song filled with memories, love, and peace

Swedish artist and composer Heléne Hallnäs presents her new single “Paley” – a heartfelt homage to her father Eyvind, born in central Gothenburg and a loyal guest at the historic Konditori Paley. The café, founded in 1945, was an elegant patisserie adorned with chandeliers and exquisite pastries – including Eyvind’s favorite: arrack balls without oats.
 
The song was written in June 2025 at the café “Evas Paley” on Avenyn in Gothenburg, where Heléne let childhood memories and summers on Lyrön, off the coast of Orust, blend into a meditative and ambient musical experience.
 
– “Writing ‘Paley’ at my dad’s favorite café felt like a beautiful and joyful way to honor him. I felt close to him the entire time,” says Heléne.

A collaboration filled with joy and presence

The production of “Paley” is the result of a warm and creative collaboration with KMR Studios in Uppsala. Heléne describes the process as both joyful and deeply personal – especially the recording of piano and vocals together with Kasper.
 
– “Being able to shape the song exactly the way I wanted and watch it grow was amazing. Working with Kasper in the studio is a memory I’ll carry with me for a long time,” says Heléne.

A personal journey and a musical greeting

After her father’s passing in August 2024, the decision to release the song came naturally. “Paley” became not only a musical tribute, but also a way for Heléne to connect past and present.
When she travels to Gothenburg for work, she often visits her father’s old neighborhood – and Evas Paley has become a particularly meaningful place.
– “I hope listeners feel the same warmth I did while creating this song,” Heléne concludes.
