After a longer period of songwriting and an intense year in the studio, Murkfä now releases his first full-length album Searching. It is a feel-good scented record that carries both energy and reflection. With everything from driving riffs to calm piano ballads, Murkfä wants to convey music that feels positive – regardless of whether the lyrics are light or dark. Searching thus becomes both a milestone and an invitation: an honest, personal, and melody-rich album for listeners to discover and carry with them.

When Murkfä now presents his debut album Searching, it is the fruit of three years of creative work. All the songs have grown out of everyday events, encounters with people, and sudden ideas that sometimes appeared during runs in the forest. Murkfä explains that the record consists of “mostly guitar-based feel-good rock, and I want the songs, regardless of their lyrical content, to feel positive.” The result is an album that moves between different moods and genres, but always carries a core of energy and warmth.

The record was recorded in stages over the past year, with both successes and challenges. One of the most memorable moments was when a stubborn throat infection forced Murkfä to postpone the recording – only to then start over completely with the opening track. “It gave me respect for singers who over the years have excused themselves for temporary throat problems,” he says. The voice itself is also something new for him – from not having sung that much before, he discovered during the making of the album the joy and inspiration of using it as an instrument of its own.

Searching is a multifaceted record where every song has its own identity. Murkfä himself highlights “Come to Me” as a personal favorite, a track that shifts between calm and intensity, as well as “Poolside” – his first piano ballad which carries a unique story. “I like that there’s quite a wide range of different songs with, in my opinion, good melodies,” he says. This variation is one of the album’s strengths: from bluesy rock tones to quietly sensitive parts, always with melody as the foundation.

Several of the album’s singles have already had their own journey before the full release. Songs like Scars have touched listeners with their theme of the invisible scars left by bullying, while Different carries a more bluesy energy and explores the feeling of being an outsider. In album format, these tracks are joined by more compositions that reflect both personal experiences and universal themes. Together they create a musical landscape that is varied yet cohesive, personal yet accessible.

As a debut album, Searching is not just a collection of songs, but also an important marker in Murkfä’s musical journey. “Since this is the first record from Murkfä, it becomes a milestone in itself to move on from,” he says. At the same time, he is already looking ahead, curious about new ideas and eager for the next time he can step into the studio. The creative process has left him wanting more – both in terms of songwriting and performance.

What drives him above all is the joy of playing: “The most fun part of the process is absolutely playing and singing, the actual recording time,” says Murkfä. And even though he is proud of the album and enjoys listening to the songs again and again, he is just as excited to hear the reactions from the audience. For Searching was created to be shared – to move, inspire, and create new connections between artist and listener.
