One of his early memories is listening to the Beatles’ red compilation in his parents’ red SAAB 95 on the way somewhere in the early 1980s, and in his teenage years he became obsessed with the sound of guitars. That fascination grew into more than listening; it became a long-running songwriting practice, where ideas, sketches, and songs often remained private for years. Over time, however, the urge to finish the work, let go, and allow the music to meet other people has become stronger. Nils Ragnar is the expression of that shift.

Inspiration rarely arrives on command. For Nils Ragnar, it tends to appear in moments when images, places, and moods suddenly emerge and demand a musical language. He describes himself as living in Uppsala while feeling at home in many places across Europe, drawn to the sense of being in transit. That experience leaves a clear mark on his music, which carries both direction and restlessness. Looking ahead, he hopes to remain in the same good place in life, but with more releases behind him and new material on the way, allowing the project to grow organically over time.
