Produced by Filip Killander at KMR Studios in Uppsala, the release marks a bold new step in the artist’s creative journey.

From frustration to release – a two-year process brought to life in the studio
Known for her previous singer-songwriter releases, Terese Bååth surprises listeners with this new, EDM-style for WHY. The vibrant dance track born from a feeling of not being heard. The project started two years ago as a simple lyrical sketch and took full shape in the summer of 2025 through a creative collaboration with KMR Studios.
 
The production process was marked by playful experimentation and a refreshing sense of discovery. Working with a new sound and hearing the track take shape layer by layer in the studio became a highlight in itself. WHY features a powerful melodic drop and a signature autotuned vocal hook – elements that give the track both character and club appeal. Terese on the experience: “It was really fun to try something completely new – and challenging! But that’s also what made it so rewarding. I love the drop and the energy in the production. It’s a song that makes you want to move, even though the message comes from a frustrated place.”
Creation as something intuitive and sentient
The process for Terese will always differ depending on the project, but often times the music will take shape from a lived feeling or situation. Sometimes the lyrics comes first, sometimes the melody. Sometimes the feeling of the music and lyrics can change depending on the chords of the melody – something that makes creating intuitive and fun. Working together with producer Filip Killander is something she has done before and Terese really enjoys being in the studio, working and recording.
