Ulf Enhörning releases Three Ballads

Ulf Enhörning is releasing Three Ballads, bringing together three songs written at different points in his life, united by a calm and reflective sound. Rooted in Swedish folk song, ballad and country, he lets simple melodies and gentle arrangements carry stories of love, friendship, peace and presence.

Listen to the music

Music That Has Been Waiting for the Right Time

The songs on Three Ballads were written more than twenty years ago, inspired by vivid memories of Victoria and the west coast of Canada. Love in this Room grew out of a romantic moment thirty years ago, with the evening star Venus shining outside the window, while Here on Earth reflects on our place in the universe and our longing for peace. Min Vän turns the focus closer to the human experience, using everyday imagery to express deeper feelings of tenderness, longing and life experience.

A Stripped-Back and Reflective Sound

Musically, the release moves between stripped-back and carefully arranged compositions. The sound is introspective, calm and mature, balancing simple harmonies with elements of easy-listening folk, country and classically coloured arrangements. Love in this Room and Here on Earth were recorded in a studio in Bucharest in 2021, while Min Vän was primarily developed in Ulf’s home studio. The combination gives the release both intimacy and variation.

When Old Songs Finally Meet Their Audience

For Ulf Enhörning, Three Ballads is also about timing. After many years of having these songs waiting in the wings, he now wants to give them the production and sound quality he feels they deserve. Finally releasing them is described as both meaningful and joyful. Love in this Room in particular captures something at the heart of the project: a moment in time, carefully preserved in song, now ready to meet its listeners.
