DBI presents “Walk Along the Beach”, a new release where the duo from Arvika combines a warm, melodic expression with lyrics about longing, closeness, and a time shaped by uncertainty. With their characteristic sound, where richer chords give the music its own calm and depth, the song moves between stillness and motion. The release also includes the instrumental track “Fantasy”, creating an atmospheric and dreamlike sound.

A song that took shape on an August day

DBI, consisting of Ing-Britt and Dick Björkman, has since 2020 built their music creation on patience, storytelling, and the desire to let each idea find its own form. “Walk Along the Beach” began when Dick sat down with his guitar one August day, and the tones of the song started to emerge. For Ing-Britt, the melody became the starting point for lyrics reflecting a changing world, the feeling that time is not enough, and the need to hold on to closeness and human warmth.

The song’s expression rests on what DBI themselves highlight as an important part of their sound: Dick’s nuanced chords create a slightly distinctive and pleasant sonic space. The result is a song that aims to inspire well-being while carrying a clear emotional depth. In “Walk Along the Beach”, both the calm of the sea and the unease of an unstable world are present, making the song both accessible and rich in nuance.

From setbacks to finished release

The path to the final release proved more challenging than expected. Illness and a crashed studio delayed the process, while new tools and workflows had to be learned. The home studio Boss BR 1600 suddenly stopped working in the middle of production. Dick therefore transitioned to Tascam Model 12 and Presonus Studio One 6, and despite technical limitations, the duo ultimately managed to complete the song exactly as intended. For DBI, releasing music is ultimately about sharing joy, meaning, and inspiration with their listeners, and “Walk Along the Beach” carries that intention throughout. Looking ahead, there are plans for a new keyboard and ideas to explore even more synth-based sounds.
