In the latest episode of Soundcheck with KMR Studios, Tove and Filip talk with artist and songwriter Simon Forslund about the craft of songwriting, performance, and the future!
Being a songwriter and independent artist in Sweden
In the conversation, Simon shares his musical background and how he became the artist he is today. He explains how music and artistry have always been part of him, and how he one day realized he would deeply regret not giving his artistry an honest chance.
Simon continues by describing what it’s like to be a songwriter — how he works on his own music as well as writing for others. He talks about his creative process and how lyrics and words are always what come first. Simon also describes his workdays, whether it’s songwriting sessions with other artists or a day in the studio with the producers he collaborates with.
The conversation also touches on performance, mental health, and what Simon likes to write about. He shares how his lyrics are always personal, drawn from his own experiences and emotions.
Live shows, goals, and the future
On November 29th, Simon will perform on the Main Stage at Katalin in Uppsala. Along with a previous performance during the Uppsala Culture Night, this marks the real start of Simon’s live journey. He shares how it felt to play during Culture Night, how he prepares for the Katalin concert, and what he hopes for in the future. Having already released two albums, Simon is aiming to release another one this coming spring.
