The Journey Behind ”Corinna’s Sea Shanties and Ballads”
During the conversation, The Actress and Filip talk about how it all began and the journey behind the creation of the album. Filip describes how The Actress had a clear vision for each song from the very start, and that the finished versions still have the same feel as the very first demos.
The Actress also shares her songwriting process, the inspiration behind several of the songs, and the people who influenced the stories in the music. She talks about how each song developed and formed its own personality along the way. Together, Filip and The Actress recall what it was like in the studio and the special moment when several musicians and vocalists recorded live together, and how that brought incredible energy to the entire album.
The conversation touches on both the challenges and highlights, and what they have learned along the way. They also discuss how difficult but rewarding it was to bring the maritime themes to life, the playful nature of the sound, and the genuine joy that infused the entire production process.
First Single from the Album – Come Ye Sailors
In conjunction with the podcast episode on September 26, The Actress released the first single from her upcoming album, ”Corinna’s Sea Shanties and Ballads”. Titled ”Come Ye Sailors”, it is the first of three singles leading up to the album release.
In the episode, The Actress and producer Filip Killander discuss the creative process behind the album. The single evokes a vivid scene of sailors returning to a lively harbor, with the sound of waves and distant seagulls adding to the atmosphere. The lyrics invite the listener to step inside the tavern, take a seat, and share a moment of camaraderie, no matter who you are or where you come from.
