Lecture at NBV in Kalmar – From Hobby to Career in Music

In the fall of 2024, we at KMR Studios had the honor of visiting NBV in Kalmar to give a lecture on how to turn a passion for music into a profession. KMR’s founder and music producer Filip Killander, along with artist Simon Forslund, shared both inspiration and practical tools to help independent artists and producers reach a wider audience with their music.

The lecture was divided into two parts:

Filip shared his journey—from having music as a hobby to running one of Sweden’s first Dolby Atmos-certified music studios. He talked about the creative process, how to take music from an idea to a finished release, and the many career opportunities available in the music industry.

Simon focused on practical strategies for gaining exposure as an independent artist, with a special emphasis on TikTok as a marketing tool. He shared insights, exercises, and mindsets to help musicians spread their music organically.

After the lecture, we had a long and insightful Q&A session, discussing everything from industry challenges to the participants’ own music projects. A huge thank you to NBV for the invitation and to all the attendees for your questions and engagement!
