Inspiration Behind “Interrupt”

Annika Törner’s creative journey with “Interrupt” began in her cozy cottage studio. Originally composed as a birthday tribute to her daughter, the song’s main theme quickly took shape and later became the captivating chorus of “Interrupt.” Encouraged by her daughter to transform the jingle into a full English song, Annika embraced the challenge despite never having written in the language before. Her work gained further momentum when Filip from KMR inquired about new music, prompting Annika to further develop the song. With feedback from her husband Bengt and inspiration from AI-driven music creation videos by Mike McClellan, Annika delved into writing English lyrics, adding new layers of creativity to the project. Despite language challenges and with the help of a language coach to improve pronunciation, she turned her curiosity into a powerful lyrical composition.

A Blend of Genres and Emotions

Annika’s music, released through KMR, is a delightful mix of accessible and surprising elements, with a strong emphasis on melody and clever musical nuances. Her style encompasses pop songs, ballads, classical music, and instrumental electronic music. Influenced by ABBA, 70s and 80s disco, funk, and classical music, Annika’s sound reflects her musical journey. Recently, she has found inspiration from artists like Laleh and Cazzi Opeia, whose sound and messages deeply resonate with her. Listening to Annika’s music feels like a journey through time, where each track offers a fresh yet familiar experience. Her ability to blend different genres and influences creates a unique sonic landscape that is both nostalgic and innovative.

Challenges in Production

The production of “Interrupt” was not without its challenges. During recording in her cottage studio, Annika was disturbed by a persistent ant invasion that disrupted her focus. Despite these obstacles, she persevered and found humor and strength in the situation. The recording process, despite its distractions, ultimately led to a polished final product. Annika commends Filip at KMR for adding a bold effect to the guitar synth, enhancing the song’s conclusion with a powerful sound. Reflecting on the journey from a simple jingle to a professionally mixed song, Annika finds great satisfaction in the transformation. Her favorite parts of the song include various moments of creative breakthroughs, showcasing her dedication and joy in the process. Annika looks forward to sharing “Interrupt” with a wider audience and hopes it resonates as deeply with listeners as it does with her.

“Interrupt” is a testament to Annika Törner’s artistic growth and her ability to transform personal experiences into universal stories. This release marks a significant milestone in her musical career, blending heartfelt lyrics, versatile influences, and innovative production techniques. Recording the Music Video

Erik Almqvist, working as a photographer and graphic designer at Fotostudion in Uppsala and here at KMR Studios, also took charge of the recording of the music video for Annika Törner’s new song “INTERRUPT.” In collaboration with Annika, Erik created a well-thought-out script, placing great emphasis on ensuring that each scene reflected the song’s lyrics, especially in terms of emotion and message. Once the planning was complete, Erik took command of the recording process. Kasper Randler, also a music producer at KMR Studios, participated as an actor in the video.

The recording took place on an unusually hot day in Uppsala, which posed additional challenges during some of the more physically demanding scenes. Despite this, the atmosphere was excellent, and the heat did not stand in the way of the pursuit of perfect takes. Thanks to Erik’s meticulous direction, the final result is something we are all really pleased with. The music video for “INTERRUPT” is now available to watch on Annika Törner’s YouTube channel.
