Simon Forslund is now releasing his new single “Hälften av han”, a song that carries a deep, personal story about the relationship between father and son. “Hälften av han” started to take shape over a year ago, following a deep conversation between Simon and his father. In that moment, Simon realized he wanted to write a song dedicated to him. The song became a way to process their relationship, filled with both gratitude and sorrow. Initially just a rough draft, Simon sent it to Filip at KMR for further production, which brought the song to new heights. Filip added several unique elements, including a large choir, which significantly enhanced the emotional impact of the song. This was one of the most magical moments in the creation process, and Simon gained a new understanding of how collaborations can elevate a song. For Simon, the entire process was emotionally charged, with every step, from the first riff to the final production, being an important part of processing and expressing his feelings for his father.

For Simon, recording and producing “Hälften av han” was an especially emotionally charged process. When he first heard the song performed by a large women’s choir, it felt as though the song came to life in a way he hadn’t expected. The power and emotional intensity of the choir added depth to every word and note. After listening to the final version, following mixing and mastering, Simon felt a huge sense of relief. “It’s always good to finish a project,” says Simon. But this song felt particularly special, as it was his way of showing love for his father through music. He hopes that through the music, he can convey the deep love and appreciation that he may not have always expressed. For Simon, the whole song was a way to better understand his father – and to communicate something that had gone unsaid.
