Mattias Hoffert is now out with “Don’t Forget to Breathe”
Artist Mattias Hoffert has released a new song – “Don’t Forget to Breathe”. The song is a message to his daughters and describes what it’s like growing up in a world filled with judgmental stares.
“I took the perspective of writing the lyrics to my daughters, hoping that in a world that constantly judges, examines, and evaluates – they won’t forget to breathe”
The Background of the Song
The song “Don’t Forget to Breathe” was initially intended to be part of an earlier music release, “Psalm 24”. However, Mattias Hoffert realized that “Don’t Forget to Breathe” didn’t fit in with that release. Despite this, Hoffert couldn’t let go of the song. It expresses his frustration with the world’s and society’s development, a development he often finds hard to understand.
“It’s a pity about people,” says Hoffert, quoting Strindberg as he describes the song’s theme. “Don’t Forget to Breathe” is an observation of an increasingly intolerant society, where the demands to be unique are high, yet deviations from the norm are not tolerated.
Hoffert chose to write the lyrics for his daughters, hoping that in a world that constantly judges, examines, and evaluates, they won’t forget to breathe. Through the song, he aims to convey a message of finding calm and strength within oneself despite external pressures.
“Don’t Forget to Breathe” is thus not just a musical creation but also a personal reflection and a loving reminder to the next generation about the importance of self-care and authenticity in a demanding world.
Feelings About the Release
Musician Mattias Hoffert is facing a new milestone in his career with his latest song, as it is the first song he has produced and mixed himself in Dolby Atmos. This new technological challenge has given him a fresh perspective on music production, requiring a different approach compared to a regular stereo mix.
Mattias Hoffert describes how much the mindset differs from producing and mixing in stereo. At the same time, he feels very satisfied with the result – which in this new musical territory brings a special sense of satisfaction. Releasing a song that he has both produced and mixed himself gives him a feeling of pride.
The song, which Hoffert describes as having a “nice, catchy chorus”, features several elements he is particularly pleased with. “I like the opening line: ‘On the street where we live, the houses look alike’,” he says. He also highlights the bridge before the final chorus as one of his favorite parts.
