Dodgers' Dive: A Rock Journey from 70s Classics to Contemporary Energy

Niklas Bursell, the frontman of the rock band Dodgers’ Dive, has vivid childhood memories that continue to inspire his music creation. When asked about his earliest and strongest musical memory, Bursell replies: "My childhood 70’s." He recounts how his youth was filled with everything from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to ZZ Top and Deep Purple. This musical upbringing shaped his taste and fueled his passion for creating music. Bursell recalls being fascinated by a diverse musical landscape and how each band and artist contributed to his own style. These early influences have continued to drive him forward in his creative process, where he strives to capture the energy and expression that defined the musical icons he grew up with. "So much great music!" he notes about these iconic artists, and it’s clear that this deep love for music has become the cornerstone of his own musical career. Bursell explains that this passion for 70s music has influenced both his songwriting and his ability to create engaging rock music today.

A Rock Mix with Depth and Variety

When it comes to describing Dodgers’ Dive and their music, Bursell emphasizes that the band doesn’t limit itself to a specific genre. "We just experiment", he explains. Bursell describes their sound as a mix of 70’s rock with playful elements of funk, jazz, blues, and sometimes progressive influences. This versatility gives Dodgers’ Dive a unique position on the rock scene. The music is designed to engage and make listeners feel something. You shouldn’t be able to stand still, or stop moving. Bursell describes how Dodgers’ Dive is fundamentally a live band, and direct contact with the audience is highly valued. He emphasizes that songs often start with personal ideas and thoughts, and the music evolves through experimenting with the guitar, rhythms, and harmonies. For Bursell, it’s not only important to create good music but also to ensure it is meaningful and engaging for the audience.

From Studio Work to Global Tours

Creating music in the studio is something Niklas Bursell truly loves. "The most enjoyable part of creating music is when you have an idea, develop it, and it grows into something, and you feel like you’ve really 'got it right'", he shares. Playing songs for people and receiving positive feedback is one of the most rewarding aspects of music creation. Although Bursell has had his own studio and many musician friends, he greatly values the collaboration and interaction that occur when the band works together in KMR’s professional studio. The creative process with the band, where ideas are constantly developed through jamming and cooperation, is something he holds in high regard. Looking ahead, Bursell hopes that Dodgers’ Dive will soon be on tour and have more opportunities to share their music with a broad audience all around the world.
