The Black Forest

Jonas Svensson has been working as a musical director at Kristianstad Theater since 2007, where he has conducted 23 musicals, including "The Phantom of the Opera," "Chess," "We Will Rock You," "Jesus Christ Superstar," and "Cats." He has also been working as a church musician for 33 years, overseeing four choirs. As if that wasn't enough, he also works as an accompanist for various singers and artists, such as Emil Sigfridsson, and plays in a hard rock band. His influences are many, including Bach, Chopin, Genesis, Dream Theater, Pat Metheny, Vangelis, ELP, Yes, John Williams, Rush, Toto, Steve Hackett, Peter Gabriel, and more. It's easy to understand why he is described as a musical chameleon.

As a composer, his main focus is to touch our inner emotional lives, and he mostly writes instrumental music. Jonas is drawn to ambient music and often sees his music in visual images, which becomes evident when you listen to his single "Yggdrasil." He would describe his music as dreamy, melancholic, and tantalizing.

His debut single, "Yggdrasil," is inspired by Nordic nature and mythology. The piece aims to describe the feeling of being at the top of the World Tree (Yggdrasil) and beholding the beauty of the world. Just a month after the debut, he releases another single called "Flokis Journey," inspired by the character Floki in the TV series Vikings. It is a dark song that explores a sorrowful human fate, confrontation, and Nordic mythology.
