Murkfä

Murkfä, an artist whose musical journey has been filled with detours and obstacles, has finally found his voice. From humble music moments on the school bus to personal songs created in the forest, Murkfä's story is an inspiring reminder that it is never too late to realize your dreams. Discover how a passion for music has transformed Murkfä's life and led to the creation of songs that touch both him and his audience.

A musical upbringing and early obstacles

Murkfä's musical journey began in a time and place where access to music was limited. His upbringing was marked by sporadic music programs on P3, Sunday school songs, and the dance music that echoed from the school bus speakers. A pivotal turning point came in seventh grade when he first heard Judas Priest's "Breaking the Law." This moment created a deep contrast to everything he had previously heard and ignited a fire within him. Despite limited resources and an untuned drum set, he continued to experiment with music in his bedroom. In his late teens, Murkfä struggled to find the right people to play with and lacked the funds to invest in necessary equipment. Covers became a temporary solution, but work and family eventually demanded his time and focus, leading to music being shelved for a long period.

The rediscovery of music and creativity

Murkfä's musical spark was rekindled when a friend asked him to play guitar in a local SKA band. This rediscovered collaboration with other musicians gave his songwriting new meaning and drive. Despite always dreaming of singing, he lived with the belief that he was a hopeless case as a singer. After years of sporadic tinkering and songwriting at home, he finally mustered the courage to enter a studio to record a song. Hearing his own voice became a turning point. He realized that his voice had potential, which inspired him to continue writing and recording his own music. The finely tuned song where he plays acoustic guitar marked the beginning of a new musical era for Murkfä.

Future dreams and creative joy

Murkfä finds his greatest inspiration during runs and walks in the forest. Nature releases something deep within him and gives him the opportunity to reflect and express his feelings. The song "When Death Comes Crawling," written after a close friend passed away from cancer, is an example of how his music combines personal experiences with a positive musical style. Murkfä's music is a mix of rock, blues, reggae, and folk, with catchy choruses. Working with professionals in the studio at KMR has been a luxurious and educational experience for him. He dreams of recording more songs in both Swedish and English, gathering musicians for a band, and performing his songs live. For Murkfä, music is not only a way to express himself but also an opportunity to touch and inspire others.
